Gunite and Concrete Swimming Pools

Design & Excavation
After designing your new pool Penguin Pools will excavate either mechanically or by hand After inspection of the hole we will design the steel reinforcing to suit the ground conditions.

Gunite or Concrete
After laying the steel reinforcing there is a choice between either Guniting your pool or Handpacking with concrete. (30 MPA)

Pheumatically Applied Gunite:
Gunite is a specific mixture of well graded river sand, cement and water which is mixed together to approved proportions and sprayed on under pressure to form your pool shell.

Hand Packed Concrete:
A pre mixed concrete of 30 M.P.A. strength is delivered to site. The concrete is packed by hand by skilled labour and floated.

Paving:
There are a number of artistic paving options available, ranging by your choice from tiles and bricks through to wooden decking.

Mosaics:
A 15cm band of tiles or mosaics is fitted to the pool waterline ensuring the marbelite is below the waterline. Tile and mosaics are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours.

Marbelite:
After the pool has been either Gunited or Hand Packed the pool will be Marbelited. Marbelite is a mixture of marble dust and white cement. Marbelite is plastered on to the pool surface with specially designed rounded steel trowels to a thickness of 5mm-8mm.

Filtration:
The filtration and reticulation system will be designed to suit both the size and the circumstances of the pool to perform to strict hygienic as well as your personal requirements.

Handover
After your pool has been completed Penguin Pools will chemically treat your pool and give you instructions on how to operate your new pool.
